The Olympic Games is not only the greatest sporting event in the world, but also the biggest corporate networking event. Building on the opportunities created by the Olympics and Paralympics in London 2012, The Training Gateway and the National Centre for Entrepreneurship in Education (NCEE), along with UK Trade and Investment and the University of York, are running a national entrepreneur competition for every university in the year running up to the Olympics and Paralympics.
The competition will enable every UK University to submit upto two business plans outlining a brand new business idea inspired by and based around the opportunities created by London 2012. Business plans will be judged on their relevance to the opportunities created by London 2012, the business, its products and services, UK and international marketing strategy, and financial and long term sustainability.
Eligibility Critera
Entries can be received from:
- Any student or group of students enrolled within a UK HE institution
- Any recent graduate or team of graduates (must have graduated after 1st June 2007 from a UK HE institution)
- Any individual or team of entrepreneurs currently working in / supported by a university incubation programme
An independent panel of judges will select the top 4 business plans, and the winners will be announced at York Racecourse on June 19th when the Olympic torch relay comes to the city.
NOTE: graduate/student starts-ups can have been trading for a maximum of 18 months prior to 31st March 2012.
Promotion and Publicity
NUE2012 will use the personal data you provide to consider your application. Additionally, NUE2012 reserves the right to disclose your personal data and all information submitted via the application process, and disclosed at any of the public events to judges, marketing and other organisations involved in the NUE2012 competition in respect of the NUE2012 programme.
By participating in NUE2012 you give NUE2012 the right to publicly announce your success at any stage of the competition, allow NUE2012 reasonable use of your details, including information within your application as well as photographs for the purpose of NUE2012 advertising, marketing or promotional material on NUE2012’s websites or those of its sponsors, including the National Centre for Entrepreneurship in Education, the Training Gateway, UK Trade and Investment and organisations providing prizes and sponsorship to the winners.
